NEIGHBORHOOD GOODS

  • Location: Silverlake, Los Angeles, CA
    Size: 7,000 sf

Neighborhood Goods is transforming the evolution of the modern department store. Design, Bitches was brought on to direct the architecture, interior design, environmental branding, and landscape integration for their first two California flagship locations in Newport Beach and in Los Angeles’s Silverlake neighborhood. Their physical space needed to reflect the company’s unique approach to high-end, digitally-integrated retail, which features an ever-changing roster of brands.

At Silverlake, we unearthed the subversive histories of a space that had long been hidden from view, inserting sculptural pieces that subtly reference the brand identity. Plantings inspired by characters from the neighborhood are integrated into flexible retail pieces that act as shelving, seating and surfaces for brand activation. A restaurant kitchen & bar on the mezzanine over-look the action below. Dining seats and additional retail round out the rooftop deck with a view of Sunset Blvd. and the Hollywood Sign.
